Sad But True:

E. Robinson's Sons Brewery

The Elizabeth Robinson's Sons brewery was the main branch of the Pennsylvania Central Brewing Company. One of several mergers throughout the state around the turn of the century, the PCBC had a dozen branch breweries throughout the region. This was Scranton's best example of brewery architecture. Unfortunately, shortly after our first tour in 1991 it was condemned to demolition. The building proved to be a formidable obstacle to the wrecking ball however and it took considerably longer to raze than was expected. Pictured top left: lithograph, second row: front and rear views of the complex, and third row, right: sign on side of building withstood the test of time. Last row: two signs that remained, one of which appears on our poster Brewery Architecture in Pennsylvania.
